ABOUT
Hello! My name is Jordan Lockert, and I am an actor based out of Lincoln, Nebraska, where I was born and raised. In December I graduated from the University of Lincoln-Nebraska, and I am currently looking to expand my acting prowess through graduate school.
I began acting when I was ten years old at a small youth theater in downtown Lincoln. During a performance of Treasure Island, the first play I was in, I forgot my wooden sword in the dressing room and, when the big fight scene occurred, I had to improvise. Since then, I’ve played an obsessive and possessive linguist, a righteous newsboy who unites his friends against bourgeois tyranny, an angsty Peanuts character, a Dwarf from Middle-Earth, Abraham Lincoln’s personal secretary, and everything in between.
I am also exceptionally passionate about improvisational comedy. In high school, I formed my own troupe, The Silverware, which I was President of for two years before graduating. Currently, I’m a member of Lazzi, a group which performs both short-form and long-form improv.
In my free time I enjoy watching movies and photography – you can view some of my pieces here. But mostly I’m dedicated to my craft; last January I directed and acted in my own theatrical adaptation of Hong Sang-soo’s film Right Now, Wrong Then.
To me, acting is the art of empathy, which is why I approach every role with the utmost vitality and vigor, because every character I play demands to have their truth heard. I believe that the success of a performance is directly linked to how an actor embodies nuanced, often contradictory emotions. The intensity, boldness, and charisma I bring to the stage sets me apart in this way, and I hope that one day I will be fortunate enough to perform for you.
“Lincoln’s assistant, John George Nicolay, played by Jordan Lockert was a highlight and the perfect fit. He created a passionately convicted and thoughtful balance with Lincoln.”
